Loose Women star and anchor backs Meghan Markle against 'hateful' comments
Charlene White has voiced her support for Meghan Markle amid 'hateful' remarks
Loose Women presenter and news reporter, Charlene White, has stepped forward in defense of Meghan Markle amidst a barrage of "hateful" criticism aimed at the Duchess of Sussex.
The journalist, who previously faced backlash for not wearing a poppy onscreen during Remembrance Day, has addressed the relentless scrutiny faced by the duchess.
She criticised viewers' relentless fixation on bringing Meghan down, expressing her disbelief at the negativity.
While attending the British Diversity Awards at JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London, she informed the Daily Mail: "We could air a segment featuring Harry and Meghan, and people will continue discussing it on social media for weeks upon weeks after, and I find it difficult to understand why people get so intensely emotional and spiteful toward someone they've never even met in their life.
"It's astonishing to me, and I simply can't wrap my head around it."
Ms. White, who co-hosted the diversity awards event, went on: "I enjoy having conversations about her because it's crucial that we discuss her without the intent of just driving clicks and criticising yet another woman.
"This is particularly vital when, for some individuals, criticizing her seems like a sport."
The Duchess of Sussex faced criticism in the latest episode of Saturday Night Live UK, causing royal enthusiasts to feel divided.
Cast member Hammed Animashaun made a sharp joke about Prince Harry's union, jestingly saying the duke was "set to marry a woman 98% of the UK public won't find easy to engage in casual conversation with".
This joke hinted at the divided opinions regarding Meghan, who has remained a significant public figure since stepping back from her senior royal responsibilities with her husband in 2020.
Nonetheless, another social media viewer remarked: "The continuous criticism of Prince Harry and Meghan is unacceptable. It's overdone and, honestly, quite obvious."
The comedy sketch centered around a fictional MI5 mission to enhance King Charles's image following Princess Diana's passing.
Agents, portrayed by Celeste Dring, Ayoade Bamgboye, and Mr. Animashaun, convened with a spoof version of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, played by Jack Shep, to detail their supposed "29-year strategy" to diminish the allure of other royals.
The comedic skit took aim at Prince William’s appearance, and Sarah Ferguson's distinctive walk also became a target of humour.
