King Charles and Queen Camilla plan lowkey nights out with caution
King Charles prefers quiet evenings with Queen Camilla over extravagant public displays
King Charles and Queen Camilla are famously discreet regarding their private celebrations, often favouring lowkey evenings over public extravagance.
Former royal gardener Jack Stooks recently provided insight into the couple's preferences, noting that "their anniversaries tend to be up in Birkhall near the Balmoral Estate."
Speaking to Smooth Spins,Stooks explained that these occasions are typically "just them" or shared with a few close family members over "a quiet meal" at home.
The intimate nature of Birkhall provides a sanctuary, as the gardener remarked, "Birkhall is lovely," featuring a modest drawing room and a small dining room suited for simple fare.
The logistical challenges of royal life often dictate these domestic choices, making traditional restaurant visits nearly impossible.
"It's not that easy that they can go and have a nice meal in a restaurant and be left alone," Stooks observed, adding that "It’s so difficult."
Furthermore, the monarch adheres to a disciplined lifestyle that influences their menu. "The King is also quite specific about his eating pattern, and they don't eat huge amounts as well," the insider revealed, suggesting they might enjoy something as uncomplicated as a "crab souffle" rather than a multi-course banquet.
This preference for simplicity allows the couple to enjoy genuine quality time away from the intense scrutiny of the global spotlight.
Historically, Birkhall has served as a cherished retreat for the King, who inherited the property from the late Queen Mother in 2002.
Looking ahead, the royal couple is expected to continue utilising the estate for significant milestones throughout the 2026 summer season.
