'Wednesday' star Jenna Ortega in spotlight over alleged romance controversy

Jenna Ortega is facing mounting backlash online as controversy surrounding her rumored relationship with Danish musician Elias Rønnenfelt resurfaces.

Speculation about the Wednesday star’s personal life first began in October, when photos and videos circulated showing the actress spending time with Rønnenfelt, including moments of public affection.

While neither has confirmed the relationship, the rumors have reignited scrutiny of the musician’s past.

Rønnenfelt, 34, previously faced criticism during the early years of his career over the use of controversial imagery linked to far-right symbolism.

Reports at the time also pointed to his involvement in curating a festival that featured an act with a racist name, as well as artwork for his band Iceage that included imagery associated with extremist ideologies.

Addressing the controversy in a 2021 interview, Rønnenfelt denied any ideological alignment with such views.

He said he and his band had “no sympathies or leanings” toward right-wing beliefs and explained that some of the imagery used in earlier work was misunderstood.

“What some people took from it was not our intent,” he said at the time, adding that he now recognizes the responsibility artists have in how their work is perceived.

Despite his past clarification, renewed attention to the issue has triggered criticism on social media, with some users questioning Ortega’s alleged association with the musician.

Comments ranged from disappointment to harsher accusations, reflecting the growing scrutiny celebrities face over their personal relationships.

Neither Ortega nor Rønnenfelt has publicly addressed the dating rumors or the recent wave of backlash.
