'The Vampire Diaries' stars tie the knot early after pregnancy news
The couple began dating on the set of The Originals and got engaged in May 2025
Candice King and Steven Krueger tied the knot in an intimate Nashville ceremony, adjusting their original wedding plans after learning they were expecting their first child together.
The couple, best known for their roles as Caroline Forbes and Josh Rosza in The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff, The Originals, wed at The Chapel at High Point Farm in Tennessee in February, according to Vogue.
Initially, they had planned a larger fall 2026 celebration with family and friends, but King’s pregnancy prompted a more private elopement-style weekend.
“We decided to have a small elopement-style weekend in Nashville with just our immediate families, and save the bigger celebration for sometime next year,” Krueger told Vogue.
The ceremony included 15 guests, among them King’s daughters Florence and Josephine, and Krueger’s two nieces.
“It was perfect,” he added. King noted, “The most stressful part was making sure the family felt taken care of and could get from point A to point B — whether it’s 15 guests or 200.”
The couple kept the focus on “photos, flowers, and food,” Krueger said, while King joked about finding a wedding dress that accommodated her baby bump.
“I was quite nervous to find a dress that would make me feel bridal and maternal — and not like the ‘Stay Puft Marshmallow Man’ from Ghostbusters bouncing down the aisle,” she quipped.
King and Krueger began their off-screen romance while working on The Originals, making their relationship Instagram official in December 2023.
About a year and a half later, Krueger proposed, and King announced her engagement via Instagram in May 2025, the day after her 38th birthday.
Sharing engagement photos at her favorite Nashville cocktail bar, she wrote, “A couple of weeks ago stevenakrueger gave me the best gift of all when he asked me to marry me. The privilege of getting older is much sweeter knowing I get to share it with you Steven.”
King, previously married to musician Joe King, shares daughters Florence and Josephine with her ex.
In December 2025, she announced her third pregnancy, her first with Krueger, and shared her excitement about blending the families.
“We’re due in May, close to my birthday, which would be the best gift ever! I can’t wait to grow our beautiful blended family,” she told People.
