James Marsden discusses star-studded fantasy football league at New York premiere
Actor James Marsden jokes about the playful trash talk shared with Joel McHale
Hollywood stars James Marsden and Jon Hamm demonstrated their enduring friendship this week as they discussed their shared passion for fantasy football.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the New York City premiere of "Your Friends & Neighbors" season two on Thursday, Marsden, 52, offered a rare glimpse into the competitive world of their celebrity sports league.
The "Jury Duty" actor revealed that he and Hamm, 55, have been "wasting colossal amounts of time, for several years now" in the league. When asked who holds the upper hand, Marsden was quick to credit his co-star’s skills.
“He knows what he's doing. Some guys in the league don't know what they're doing,” he remarked, adding with a supportive "human touch" that “as long as the trash talk is there, we're good.”
The star-studded group reportedly includes heavyweights such as Chris Evans and Joel McHale. Marsden previously joked during a television appearance that while the buy-in figures discussed are high, the real stakes involve the forfeit for the loser.
“I think Joel McHale — he's going to hate me for that now,” Marsden quipped when identifying last year’s bottom-ranked player.
Beyond the football field, Marsden also shared a heartwarming connection with co-star Olivia Munn, noting they attended the same high school.
"I was one of your sister's friends," he recalled her telling him. Looking ahead, Marsden remains coy about his future in the Hulu hit "Paradise," suggesting it is "too early to say" if his character will return for a third season.
