Heather Graham and Myha’la share their best fake blood removal hacks

When the cameras stop rolling on a horror film, the real challenge for actors begins: getting clean.

Stars Heather Graham and Myha’la shared their unconventional tips for removing fake blood while discussing their new thriller, They Will Kill You, in theaters now.

Graham, 56, plays Sharon, a satanic cultist, while Myha’la, 29, stars as Maria Reaves, younger sister to protagonist Asia Reaves (Zazie Beetz).

Both actresses found themselves drenched in fake blood during the intense action sequences.

“You have to take multiple showers and then shaving cream, bizarrely, is helpful,” Graham told People.

Myha’la added a technical note: “It depends on what the imitation fluid is made of. If it’s the painty-dry kind, the only thing that gets it off is alcohol. Not like Tito’s,” she clarified with a laugh, “like, 99% alcohol.”

Graham joked, “If you get covered in fake blood, now you know what to do.”

Both actresses have prior experience in horror films.

Graham appeared in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me and 2023’s Suitable Flesh, while Myha’la starred in 2022’s Bodies Bodies Bodies.

Directed by Kirill Sokolov, They Will Kill You follows Asia (Beetz) as she fights to survive the night in the Virgil, a demonic cult’s twisted lair spanning nine floors, inspired by Dante’s Inferno.

The ensemble cast also includes Patricia Arquette, Tom Felton, and Paterson Joseph.

The role required Graham to perform the most stunts of her career. “I trained every day. It was hard, you know? I was nervous because this was the most amount of stunts I’ve ever done, but I felt very excited at the end to realize, ‘I love doing stunts,’” she told People.

“My character gets put through some real s--- in this movie,” Graham added with a laugh. “But it was really fun.”

They Will Kill You is now in theaters, bringing blood-soaked thrills—and some surprisingly practical cleaning tips—from Graham and Myha’la.
