Anna Faris recalls fearing she’d be fired on ‘Scary Movie’ set
The actress's breakout role came with anxiety and uncertainty behind the scenes
Anna Faris has opened up about the early days of her career, revealing she feared losing her job while filming the original Scary Movie despite it becoming her breakthrough role.
The 49-year-old actress, who famously played Cindy Campbell in the long-running parody franchise, admitted she felt deeply insecure on set due to her lack of experience at the time.
“I remember being just so scared that I was gonna get fired because I had no body of work behind me. I didn’t even have an agent,” Faris told People.
The film, released in 2000, ultimately launched her into Hollywood stardom, but Faris said the experience was initially overwhelming.
Surrounded by co-stars including Regina Hall, Shawn Wayans, Carmen Electra, and Shannon Elizabeth, she often felt out of place during filming.
However, by the time she returned for Scary Movie 3, Faris said her confidence had grown significantly.
“I did feel comfortable making small talk and having banter… as opposed to just hiding in the corner, hoping that no one will notice me,” she shared.
Meanwhile, Marlon Wayans, who co-created the franchise alongside his brothers, recently teased the next installment, Scary Movie 6.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Wayans said the upcoming film aims to revive classic comedy.
“What we’re trying to do is bring back laughter… the way it used to be,” he said, describing the project as a “rebooquel,” a mix of reboot and sequel set more than two decades after the original.
