Michael J. Fox confirms he is alive after false CNN death report

Back to the Future icon Michael J. Fox has reassured the public that he is alive and well after CNN erroneously published a misleading article and tribute video regarding his death.

On Wednesday, a representative for the 64-year-old actor told TMZ: “Michael is doing great. He was at PaleyFest yesterday. He was on stage and was giving interviews.”

The confusion arose after a video entitled “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox” appeared on CNN’s digital platforms.

A spokesperson for the network quickly apologised for the blunder, stating: “The package was published in error; we have removed it from our platforms and send our apologies to Michael J. Fox and his family.”

The actor’s recent public appearance at PaleyFest LA at the Dolby Theatre further dispelled the rumours, as he joined the cast of the Apple TV+ series Shrinking for their Season 3 wrap party.

Fox, who joined co-stars Harrison Ford and Jason Segel as a guest star in the latest season, has been increasingly selective with his roles since his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 1991.

While he has candidly discussed the daily challenges of the progressive disorder, admitting in 2023 that it was “gettin’ tougher,” his current condition remains stable.

Outside of his recent acting work, Fox remains heavily involved with The Michael J. Fox Foundation, which has raised billions for medical research since its inception in 2000. He continues to live in New York with his wife of nearly 38 years, Tracy Pollan.
