Coachella cancels Anyma set due to strong winds and safety concerns
Anyma apologized, saying safety concerns forced the last-minute change
Coachella organizers were forced to cancel Anyma’s scheduled late-night set on Friday due to strong wind conditions affecting the stage build, marking an unexpected disruption during the festival’s opening weekend.
The EDM artist was slated to perform on the main stage shortly after headliner Sabrina Carpenter, but the performance was called off just before showtime as safety concerns escalated.
In a statement posted to Instagram, the festival confirmed the decision.
“Due to strong wind conditions affecting Anyma’s stage build, he is unable to perform tonight,” the statement read. “Coachella and Anyma have made this decision together with your safety as the priority.”
Anyma, known as one half of the electronic duo Tale of Us, also addressed fans directly in the comments, expressing disappointment over the cancellation.
“I’m sorry, everyone,” he wrote. “We’ve done everything in our control to build the show I’ve worked an entire year on. Safety always comes first and we’re working on a solution now.”
The festival has not yet confirmed whether the set will be rescheduled or moved to another date during the weekend or the second weekend of the event.
This marks one of multiple disruptions at this year’s Coachella, following earlier reports that UK punk band Lambrini Girls withdrew from their scheduled performance due to a serious injury sustained by vocalist Phoebe Lunny.
Despite the setback, Friday night’s headlining set by Sabrina Carpenter drew major attention, featuring guest appearances from celebrities including Susan Sarandon, Will Ferrell, and Corey Fogelmanis, alongside pre-recorded cameos from Samuel L. Jackson and Sam Elliott.
The festival continues through the weekend, with Justin Bieber set to headline Saturday night and Karol G closing out Sunday’s performances.
