Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb reunite on 'Today' show after a year

Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb teamed up again on the “Today” show Monday morning, sharing the host chair for the first time in over a year.

“Hello, everyone, good morning, and welcome to ‘Today.’ It’s wonderful to have you join us on this Monday morning,” Guthrie opened with a smile, before turning to her friend and gently touching her arm. “Hoda, it’s such a joy to have you here!”

“I’m thrilled to be sitting beside you in this seat again,” Kotb replied, to which Guthrie remarked, “Absolutely, it feels just like it used to!”

She then shared that Hoda, 61, is stepping in for Craig Melvin, who is enjoying a “well-earned holiday with his family this week.”

The last occasion Kotb and Guthrie shared the “Today” show desk was during the latter’s final day as a host on January 10, 2025.

Kotb and Guthrie had co-anchored the morning show from 2018 to 2025, setting a precedent as the first female duo.

Kotb stepped in for her colleague earlier this year while her friend took a break due to her mom Nancy Guthrie’s tragic disappearance.

“We always talk about our show as a family. We’re a family, I am part of this family,” Kotb stated to Melvin in February. “I’m glad to be here with you because we support one another. So let’s dive into it!”

Kotb was absent when Savannah, 54, made her eagerly anticipated comeback to “Today” on April 6 after spending more than two months away. She was warmly received by fans at Rockefeller Plaza.

After delivering the news with Melvin, 46, Savannah expressed that it felt “great to be back.”

Savannah revealed her return date the month prior during an emotionally charged discussion with Kotb regarding her mother’s abduction—her first interview following the incident.

In the intimate segment, Savannah shared heartbreaking insights into the ordeal, including discovering her 84-year-old mother had disappeared from her home.

During the March interview, Savannah also dismissed rumors that her family had any involvement in the abduction and revealed chilling new information from the crime scene.

Savannah, in addition, talked about a spiritual encounter where a voice told her Nancy is with God.

Nancy was reported missing from her Tucson residence on Februay 1.

Despite Savannah, Annie, and brother Camron Guthrie having received several ransom notes concerning Nancy’s abduction, the NBC host believes only two hold credibility.

The search for the perpetrator, who wore a mask and brandished a weapon in disturbing footage from Nancy’s security system, is still ongoing.
