King Charles issues strict orders to royal chefs regarding seasonal dining

King Charles has established a definitive set of culinary protocols for the royal household, with a particular emphasis on seasonal produce and the exclusion of specific ingredients.

His Majesty, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, has reportedly issued clear instructions to his chefs to ensure his meals align with his long-standing commitment to organic and sustainable farming.

Former royal chef Darren McGrady has revealed that the monarch "cannot stand" chocolate, ensuring the item rarely appears on his personal menu.

Beyond specific dislikes, the King is famously strict regarding the timing of certain foods. "The Royal Family eat by seasons," McGrady explained, noting that proposing strawberries in January would result in a "huge thick black marker" through the menu book.

The chef added that the King’s feedback would be swift: "'How dare you even suggest strawberries in January'—King Charles would have the same feedback on this too."

As the court moves to Windsor Castle for the spring, the menu has transitioned to seasonal staples such as lamb, fish, and produce from the estate’s hothouses.

"Soon the peaches will be coming in from the hothouses at Windsor Castle," McGrady shared with Heart Bingo Online.

These disciplined eating habits reflect the King’s broader life philosophy of environmental stewardship and waste reduction.

Despite his ongoing health challenges, Charles remains actively involved in the management of his Highgrove gardens, which continue to provide the organic fruit and vegetables that form the cornerstone of his daily diet.
