Experts highlight simple drinks that may support belly fat loss

Excess belly fat can raise the risk of high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and other health issues, regardless of a person’s overall weight.

While exercise and a balanced diet remain key, experts say small lifestyle changes—including beverage choices—may also support weight loss efforts.

Fitness and nutrition coach Kush Malhotra recently shared a list of drinks that may help reduce belly fat by boosting metabolism, controlling hunger, and stabilising blood sugar levels.

Among the top recommendations is unsweetened black coffee. Rich in caffeine and polyphenols, it may help increase metabolic rate and encourage the body to burn fat for energy.

Research from Stanford University suggests coffee can raise metabolism by 3 to 11%.

Apple cider vinegar is another popular option. When diluted with water, it may help regulate blood sugar levels after meals, particularly those high in carbohydrates.

A 2024 study published in BMJ Journals found that regular consumption over several weeks was linked to reductions in weight, body fat, and cholesterol levels.

Green tea also made the list, with experts pointing to its catechins and caffeine content, which may enhance fat burning and energy metabolism.

Findings available through PubMed Central support its role in aiding weight management.

Despite these potential benefits, experts caution that no single drink can target belly fat on its own.

Sustainable weight loss still depends on maintaining a calorie deficit, exercising regularly, and managing sleep and stress levels.
