Rumer Willis discusses balancing motherhood and public criticism
The actress shares insights into life as a single mother of one
Rumer Willis has spoken candidly about dealing with online criticism, saying she is learning to navigate negativity while balancing life as a single mother.
In an interview with E! News, the House Bunny actress said she is aware of the commentary directed at her parenting but tries not to let online “trolls” affect her daily life.
“My goal is not to try and behave in this way that seems like I’m totally unconscious of what’s going on,” Willis said.
“But I’m really trying to find the places that are the same that we can connect, that we can support each other.”
She added that managing public scrutiny is not always easy, describing it as an ongoing emotional balancing act.
“Some days it’s just a challenge. We’re all trying to figure out how to be understood, how to be seen,” she said.
Willis, the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, also acknowledged the differences shaped by her upbringing and public profile.
“I’m not naive to the fact that I have had a different level of privilege,” she said, noting that her background creates a “divide” in how certain experiences are perceived.
The 37-year-old actress emphasized that, while she faces challenges as a single mother, she understands that her circumstances differ from those of many others.
“I can say I’m struggling as a single mom but there’s just a level that’s different,” she said. “I understand that.”
Willis shares a 3-year-old daughter, Louetta Thomas, with her former partner Derek Thomas.
