American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan has revealed that he enters "Hannah Montana mode" to maintain his equilibrium when away from the spotlight.
The 29-year-old musician, known for the global hit "Stick Season", explained how he balances intense public scrutiny with his personal life by switching off completely upon returning to his home in Vermont.
Speaking to E! News, Kahan compared his dual existence to the fictional Disney character who famously led a double life as a normal teenager and a disguised pop star.
"I have an amazing family and a lovely wife and a whole life outside of music that allows me to feel grounded," Kahan shared, referring to his wife, Brenna Nolan.
He noted that his family provides essential stability, stating, "Every time I go home to Vermont, my family immediately grounds me in the best way."
The artist further elaborated on his transition between personas, remarking: "I go Hannah Montana mode, you know? Like, I take the wig off and then I just be myself."
Kahan also discussed his experience with body dysmorphia, depression, and anxiety, noting that being candid about these challenges has deepened his connection with his audience.
"It means that I can be myself and talk about the things that I go through with specificity," he stated. He admitted that life has become "easier" since he began speaking openly about his mental health, allowing him to stay present and feel worthy.
Kahan continues to tour his latest projects, including "The Great Divide", while advocating for mental health awareness.
