Queen Camilla admits to jet lag after arriving in America
Queen Camilla confesses to feeling travel effects during Washington visit
Queen Camilla shared a relatable revelation regarding long-haul travel as she and King Charles commenced their historic four-day state visit to the United States.
The royal couple arrived at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Monday, marking the first U.S. visit of the King’s reign.
During a reception at the British Ambassador’s residence in Washington, D.C., the Queen admitted to feeling "slightly jet lagged" following the flight from the United Kingdom.
This admission came as the royals prepared to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The diplomatic itinerary began with a formal welcome at the White House by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
Following this meeting, the King and Queen attended a garden party hosted by Sir Christian Turner, which convened 600 guests from the sectors of science, sustainability, and the creative industries.
The Queen took the opportunity to engage with representatives from the National Domestic Violence Hotline, a cause she has championed for years.
Gretchen Shaw noted, "She said to me that she feels there have been great strides made in recent years to bring awareness to the issue."
The visit is proceeding as scheduled despite a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday, which left a Secret Service member injured. President Trump confirmed he spoke with the King before their arrival, stating, "They called, and they are so looking forward to being here."
Over the coming days, the royal couple will continue their tour through New York and Virginia. The King previously undertook numerous overseas engagements as the Prince of Wales before ascending to the throne.
