'Pirates of the Caribbean' eyes comeback for Johnny Depp, says Jerry Bruckheimer

Fresh speculation is swirling around the future of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, as longtime producer Jerry Bruckheimer has opened the door to a possible return for Johnny Depp.

Depp, who became synonymous with the role of Captain Jack Sparrow across the blockbuster series, had previously indicated he would “never” work with The Walt Disney Company again.

However, new comments from Bruckheimer suggest the door may not be fully closed.

Speaking in a recent interview with Collider, the veteran producer revealed that Depp’s involvement in a sixth installment would ultimately depend on the script.

“If he likes the way the part’s written,” Bruckheimer said, indicating that the team is actively developing a role with the actor in mind.

The franchise, which has enjoyed massive global success, has long been tied to Depp’s portrayal of Sparrow, a character widely credited with shaping the series’ identity and popularity.

Bruckheimer acknowledged that legacy, emphasizing that the films’ future could hinge on Depp’s participation, noting the actor didn’t just play the role but “built” it.

While the screenplay for the next installment is still in progress, Bruckheimer has consistently expressed his desire to bring Depp back, reflecting the strong fan demand for the actor’s return.

The Pirates of the Caribbean series, launched with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, remains one of Disney’s most successful movies.

Whether Depp will once again donthe iconic costume remains uncertain, but for now, the possibility is firmly back on the table.
