National Memorial Day Concert to honor US' 250th anniversary

Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise will once again host the National Memorial Day Concert on May 24 on PBS, featuring a celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States.

The ceremony, held on the west lawn of the US Capitol, is now celebrating its 37th anniversary.

Noah Wyle will deliver a tribute honoring the militiamen and citizen soldiers from the American Revolution.

This segment will highlight the tale of a militiaman who fought alongside George Washington.

Jonathan Banks will commemorate the 85th anniversary of the unexpected assault on Pearl Harbor, which led the nation into World War II. This segment will include a tribute to the Greatest Generation.

Melissa Leo will play a role in observing the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, sharing the story of a person involved in the rescue and recovery operations at the Pentagon, in addition to honoring those lost on that day.

There will also be a tribute honoring Vietnam War veterans and Gold Star families.

The lineup features performances by Mickey Guyton, Jamey Johnson, Alan Jackson, Laura Osnes, Andy Grammer, Mary McCormack, Blessing Offor, and the National Symphony Orchestra led by conductor Jack Everly.

The event will also showcase an annual tribute to all armed forces members, with a Salute to Services that includes participation from the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Service Color Teams.

The broadcast will be live on PBS from 8pm ET to 9:30pm ET, and available on the Armed Forces Network.

It will also stream on YouTube and PBS.org and be accessible on demand from May 24 to June 7.

The concert is co-produced by Michael Colbert of Capital Concerts and WETA-TV in Washington, D.C.
