Timothée Chalamet was a notable absentee from the 2026 Met Gala on Monday, May 4, as he chose to cheer on his beloved sports team instead.
The 30-year-old actor revealed via Instagram that he missed the prestigious style event to attend the New York Knicks game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Taking his seat at Madison Square Garden, he shared a photograph on his Instagram Stories capturing the players on the court during a break in the action.
His absence coincided with the appearance of his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, who attended the gala representing the "Fashion Is Art" dress code.
Jenner, 28, wore a custom Schiaparelli look featuring a nude corset and a voluminous skirt, accessorised with an antique silver necklace and chandelier earrings.
The 2021 gala co-host has a history of choosing basketball over high fashion during the spring season. He previously defended such decisions on the "7PM in Brooklyn" podcast, stating that supporting the Knicks was the "most fun period" of his life.
This year's gala, co-chaired by Beyoncé and Anna Wintour, explores the relationship between clothing and the human body.
Other stars, including Ben Stiller, managed to bridge the two worlds by wearing Knicks colours to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Nevertheless, Chalamet remained "locked in" at the stadium, witnessing the electric atmosphere of the Garden firsthand.
The actor, known for his lead role in the "Dune" franchise, made his Met Gala debut in 2021. He is currently involved in several high-profile cinematic projects following his recent success in "Marty Supreme".
