Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes' daughter Suri drops Cruise surname
20-year-old legally changed her surname to Noelle
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' daughter Suri legally dropped her father's last name, according to newly confirmed voter registration records.
The 20-year-old college student legally changed her surname from Cruise to Noelle and registered to vote under the name Suri Noelle in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, during her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University in October 2024. PEOPLE confirmed the records after Page Six first reported the news.
Suri previously used Noelle at graduation
Suri had already begun using the surname Noelle months before her voter registration. She omitted Cruise and used Noelle during her high school graduation in June 2024.
Noelle is also the middle name of her mother, Katie Holmes.
Holmes and Cruise welcomed Suri in April 2006, married later that year in November and divorced in 2012.
Holmes praised daughter's new chapter
Following Suri's high school graduation, Holmes spoke about her daughter in a rare interview with Town & Country.
"I'm proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I'm really proud of her and I'm happy," Holmes said.
She added that she viewed the transition to college as "a time of beginnings" and said she was excited for her daughter to discover herself.
Holmes previously denied trust fund report
In December 2024, Holmes publicly denied reports that Suri had inherited a trust fund from Cruise after turning 18.
Responding to a Daily Mail article on Instagram, Holmes wrote, "Completely false," before adding in the caption, "Enough."
Although Suri has largely stayed out of the public eye, she was photographed visiting Holmes on the set of Happy Hours in New York City in August 2025.
