Philadelphia Family devastated as second brother is killed in separate shooting case
Police say no arrest has been made in connection with Singleton’s shooting
A Philadelphia family is enduring a devastating second tragedy after a man was fatally shot during a pool tournament, nearly four years after his brother was killed in a separate shooting.
Kenneth Singleton, 38, was shot and killed on Monday, May 4, at a bar in Philadelphia during a pool tournament, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
His mother, Lisa Dixon, is now mourning the loss of both of her sons after her younger son, Brandon Dixon, was also killed in a separate shooting nearly four years earlier, on May 9, 2022.
Authorities said Singleton was at the bar when gunfire broke out during the event. Witness reports cited by local outlets indicated shell casings were found near the pool table following the shooting.
Police have not yet identified a motive or made an arrest in connection with his death.
Dixon has described her son’s killing as senseless, saying she believes he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“He didn’t even drink,” she told local media. “So I couldn’t understand, you know what I mean?”
Speaking at a memorial for Singleton, Dixon expressed the overwhelming pain of losing two sons to gun violence in such a short span of time.
“I don’t want nobody else to go through the pain that I’m going through because it hurts real bad,” she said. “They say, ‘Lisa you’re strong.’ But damn, when am I allowed to be weak?”
Singleton’s death came just five days before the fourth anniversary of his brother Brandon’s killing.
Brandon, a former high school basketball standout and youth coach, was fatally shot at a gas station in 2022 in what police described as an ambush-style attack.
Surveillance footage previously reported by local media showed him being chased before he was shot.
Following Brandon’s death, an arrest was made in 2024 in connection with the case, though proceedings remain ongoing.
Police continue to investigate Singleton’s killing and are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
