Celebrity fitness trainer reveals why cutting carbs isn't essential for fitness
Fitness expert has cautioned against completely eliminating carbohydrates from the diet
Fitness expert and national-level boxer Tridev Pandey has cautioned against completely eliminating carbohydrates from the diet, saying that while reducing intake can be beneficial in moderation, cutting them out entirely may negatively affect energy levels and overall health.
In a post shared on Instagram on May 9, Pandey explained that many people mistakenly associate carbohydrates such as rice, bread, and pasta with unhealthy sugar sources.
However, he emphasised that carbs are a vital part of a balanced diet and essential for energy production.
According to Pandey, removing carbohydrates completely can lead to low energy levels, reduced physical performance, and persistent cravings.
He explained that carbohydrates naturally break down into glucose, which is necessary for the body, but the issue lies in how quickly this process occurs.
“When carbs break down too quickly, it causes a spike in blood sugar followed by a crash, which leads to hunger and cravings,” he noted.
To manage this, Pandey highlighted the importance of dietary fiber, which helps slow down sugar absorption and stabilizes blood glucose levels. This, he said, results in more sustained energy and better appetite control.
He also advised that instead of extreme dieting approaches, people should focus on structuring meals more effectively.
His recommendations include choosing whole, fiber-rich foods and limiting highly processed carbohydrates and added sugars.
“Extreme diets aren’t necessary. What you need is better structuring,” Pandey said, encouraging a balanced and sustainable approach to nutrition.
