Gwyneth Paltrow shares heartfelt advice for daughter Apple after university graduation
The Oscar-winning actress joked that her daughter Apple inherited her highly organised personality
Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed the unusual graduation gift she is considering for her children, explaining that she wants them to learn how to manage money responsibly rather than simply receiving lavish presents.
The Goop founder shared that she is thinking about giving her children “stock” as a graduation gift so they can become more involved in understanding financial markets and investing.
Paltrow made the revelation during a question-and-answer session featured in her Goop newsletter shortly after her 21-year-old daughter Apple graduated from Vanderbilt University on Friday.
Her son Moses, 20, is also expected to complete his studies at Brown University in the coming years.
“We’re thinking about giving the kids some stock so that they can get involved in managing and asking questions about the markets,” the actress explained.
She added that she may also pair the financial gift with “something physical to commemorate it.”
The Oscar-winning actress also opened up about the parenting advice she has shared with her children, whom she shares with Chris Martin.
According to Paltrow, she has always encouraged Apple and Moses to stay true to themselves, even if that sometimes means disappointing her.
“If they were being themselves through and through and they disappointed me, that was a good sign,” she said, adding that it was their “job” to grow into their authentic selves.
The actress also reflected on similarities she shares with her daughter, joking that Apple inherited her highly organised nature and tendency to schedule everything carefully.
Beyond family life, Paltrow revealed she is preparing for a summer getaway to Italy with husband Brad Falchuk, alongside time spent at their home in Long Island.
Her comments come just weeks after the actress described herself as “one of the original nepo babies” while speaking at the 2026 New York Women in Film and Television Muse Awards.
During the speech, Paltrow credited her mother, Blythe Danner, for teaching her dedication, creativity and resilience throughout her Hollywood career.
