British band apologises after last-minute gig cancellation, claims financial loss

A British music group recently extended a heartfelt apology to their fans after calling off a performance at the last moment.

The cancellation occurred as one of the band members fell ill, leaving the group both emotionally and financially strained.

Sharing on Instagram, Sam from Pigsx7, the bandmate who was unwell, provided a detailed message. “Hi everyone. Sam here, I feel the need to address some of the emails we've received regarding the postponement of the Cardiff event due to illness.

“I’m the affected member, and reading those emails has been a challenge, trying to comprehend them.”

“I hope a more comprehensive explanation might ease your understandable disappointment.”

Sam went further to describe how he was feeling under the weather while performing in York on Thursday, revealing he experienced "intense stomach issues and sickness" during the supporting act's set.

He further described his efforts to push through and perform at Desertfest, resting for the entire day before the show attempting to regain his strength.

He highlighted the significance of the earnings, stating: “For background within the music industry... under normal circumstances, I would have missed Saturday's performance, but this was a festival we don’t have the option to rebook.”

“It was a payment that honestly, a band like ours relies on to keep things running.”

“I acknowledge the late cancellation of the Cardiff performance brought financial implications for fans, and I regret that unfortunate result.”

“It was also a setback for us – cancelling cost us more than a thousand pounds.”

“We’re an independent band – that money comes directly from us.”

Sam concluded by assuring a rearranged date for Cardiff and expressing gratitude to his bandmates for their support.

The post’s caption conveyed a similar message, stating: “Due to the feedback and understandable upset regarding the cancellation of our Cardiff event due to health concerns, Sam wished to provide some insight. We can’t wait to see you soon Cardiff! We hope you’ll join us at the rescheduled event. X”

Supporters of the group wished Sam a speedy recovery in the comments, with one fan saying: “Get well soon. I haven't seen any negative comments, but maybe I just haven't come across them…”

Another commented: “Thank you for continuing with DF and putting in your all!! You guys were incredible even with Sam feeling very unwell.”

A third chimed in: “Anyone with a heart will respect your transparency and the fact that you're human. You shouldn’t need to justify yourself, but I believe true fans will appreciate it.”
