Lainey Wilson says she and Duck Hodges were the least stressed people at their own wedding
Wilson admitted that marrying Hodges fulfilled a lifelong dream and said she is glad to have her guy on the journey
Lainey Wilson and her new husband Devlin "Duck" Hodges had a refreshingly relaxed approach to their big day — and the country star has now opened up about why.
The wedding
Wilson spoke to PEOPLE magazine at the 2026 ACM Awards on Sunday, reflecting on her wedding to former NFL quarterback Hodges, which took place on 10 May 2026 at a picturesque Tennessee waterfall. The couple celebrated their honeymoon in both Sedona and Las Vegas.
Laid-back newlyweds
Despite the occasion, neither Wilson nor Hodges was particularly caught up in the pre-wedding nerves that tend to accompany such events. "Honestly, we were the ones that were a little less stressed," the 33-year-old singer-songwriter told the outlet.
"Everybody else was worried about what they were going to wear to the wedding. We were like, 'You can wear your birthday suit. We don't give a damn.'" Hodges, who accompanied Wilson to the ceremony, was equally emphatic: "We were the least stressed, probably."
A perfect ceremony
Wilson described the day itself in glowing terms. "It was perfect," she said. "It was everything that we could have imagined, to be honest. It was beautiful."
Her person
The Hang Tight Honey singer also spoke warmly about the role Hodges plays in her life beyond the wedding day, crediting him with keeping her grounded.
"Honestly, I feel like that's the thing: getting me through it is having somebody to lean on and call home, and it's been nice," she said.
"I mean, he's my person. So, I'm so glad that we're getting to experience this together, because this is all I've ever dreamed about, and I'm glad that I got my guy with me to go along the journey," Wilson admitted.
