Donna Kelce says Travis Kelce's NFL pre-season training is brutal as his July wedding approaches

Donna Kelce has opened up about son Travis Kelce's intensive pre-season preparation for his 14th NFL campaign, describing a gruelling training regime that is running alongside his forthcoming wedding to Taylor Swift.

Donna's comments to PEOPLE

Speaking to PEOPLE magazine whilst promoting her collaboration with GameChanger, the 73-year-old reflected on the demanding schedule her son has taken on. "He always goes into his own routine with training, and it's brutal.

Then he goes to actual training camp," she said. "He has to get ready before he goes to training camp. It's a long process. It takes months to get ready. That's what he's doing right now."

Travis's return to the Chiefs

Travis's 14th season comes after a year in which the Kansas City Chiefs failed to meet expectations, prompting widespread speculation that the tight end might retire.

Instead, he confirmed his return in January 2026, telling his brother Jason on an episode of their New Heights podcast: "At the same time, if my body can heal up and rest up and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18, 20, 21-week run, I think, I would do it in a heartbeat."

Two months later, Travis signed a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs worth $12 million. The 107th NFL regular season is scheduled to begin on 9 September 2026.

A busy summer ahead

Ahead of the new season, Travis and Taylor Swift are set to marry on 3 July 2026 in New York — a date confirmed via save-the-dates sent to guests. The couple announced their engagement in August 2025 in a joint Instagram post, following almost three years of dating.
