Ludwig Kaiser Accused of assaulting resident who criticised his elevator behaviour
The alleged incident followed a confrontation in an apartment building elevator
A WWE star has been arrested in Florida after authorities say he assaulted a resident who confronted him over alleged public behavior involving his companion in an apartment building elevator.
Ludwig Kaiser, 35, a German professional wrestler whose real name is Marcel Barthel, was taken into custody on a misdemeanor battery charge on Wednesday, May 20, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE and first reported by Fox News.
The alleged incident occurred in April at a residential complex in Lake Eola, Orlando, where a male resident reportedly entered an elevator and observed Kaiser with a woman engaging in what he described as “uncontrollably intimate” and “aggressively kissing” behavior.
According to the affidavit, the situation escalated when the resident exited the elevator and told the pair to “please have some manners.” Authorities say that remark allegedly triggered a physical confrontation.
The man told police Kaiser struck and shoved him, causing him to fall to the ground. Investigators later noted visible marks consistent with the reported assault, and reviewed surveillance footage that reportedly aligned with the victim’s account.
Kaiser later turned himself in to authorities on May 20 and was booked into the Orange County Jail before being released on a $1,000 bond.
He also performs in the ring under the persona “El Grande Americano” and is a current WWE talent. His legal representative has not yet commented on the allegations.
Following the arrest, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide announced changes to its scheduled programming, canceling an appearance featuring Kaiser in Mexico City, citing the situation.
WWE has also been contacted for comment but has not issued a public statement at this time.
