Kate Mansi is set to depart General Hospital following three years portraying Kristina Corinthos-Davis on the ABC soap opera.
The news was first broken by soap opera journalist Stephanie Sloane and subsequently reposted by Mansi herself to her Instagram Story.
"I've made the very difficult decision to leave General Hospital," Mansi told Sloane. "I have a few new projects that require my full attention and with my husband [Matt McInnis] currently producing a series filming primarily abroad, I needed the flexibility to travel while continuing to develop and work in Los Angeles."
Mansi joined GH in 2023, taking over from Lexi Ainsworth
Mansi arrived in Port Charles in May 2023, succeeding Lexi Ainsworth, who had held the role on and off since 2009.
Before her time on GH, the actress was widely recognised for her portrayal of Abigail Deveraux on NBC/Peacock's Days of Our Lives between 2011 and 2016, a performance that earned her a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress the following year. She reprised the part in 2018, with her final appearance airing in May 2020.
Two Emmy nominations and a turn behind the camera
Mansi received two further Daytime Emmy nominations during her career — in 2019 and 2025, the latter recognising her work on GH. During her tenure on the soap, she also stepped into the director's chair on a couple of occasions.
Executive Producer Frank Valentini offered warm words upon her departure. "We love Kate and support her decision to leave. The door is always open, and we appreciate all that she added to the show these past three years," he said.
Mansi reflects on a meaningful and unforgettable run
Mansi was equally generous in her own farewell remarks. "I'm incredibly grateful to Frank, ABC, and our writers for the care they gave Kristina," she said.
"It's been such a meaningful and unforgettable ride. I've loved being a fiery Corinthos-Davis girl in such a phenomenal family."
She also reflected on what drew her to the role in the first place. "When Frank first approached me about the role, two things deeply resonated with me: the opportunity to show my support for the queer community by playing an LGBTQ+ character, and to help tell an endometriosis storyline," she concluded.
"Together, I truly feel we honored both of those stories in a way that mattered. And the fact that I got to direct was simply the icing on the cake! Now, it feels like the right time for both Kristina and me to step into new adventures."
Final episode set to air in June after April shoot
Mansi filmed her last episode in April 2025, with her final appearance on GH expected to air sometime in June.
Beyond the soap world, her television credits include a guest role on How I Met Your Mother and a part in Amazon Freevee's Casa Grande limited series.
