Emily Blunt chooses practical vocal effects over AI in upcoming thriller ‘Disclosure Day’

Emily Blunt has revealed that she chose not to use artificial intelligence during the production of her upcoming film Disclosure Day, opting instead for a fully organic performance approach.

The British actress, who plays a City TV meteorologist in the project, discussed the decision during a recent appearance on Hot Ones with Sean Evans, where she reflected on one of the film’s most technically demanding sequences.

Blunt described a pivotal moment in the movie as a “four-minute oner” leading into a scene where her character gradually “disintegrates,” explaining that the production team explored different ways to create the accompanying sound design.

“There’s various ways you could do it. You could go the AI route, which I’m a bit terrified of,” Blunt said, adding that she initially considered generating unusual vocal sounds herself to support the sequence.

Instead of relying on AI tools, the Devil Wears Prada star said she chose to record a range of natural vocalizations in the studio, including clicking, humming, breathing, and other experimental sounds.

“I could come in and we’ll just do a range of weird sounds. And it’s what we did,” she explained, noting that strategically placed microphones captured her performance for the sound team to work with.

Blunt added that the sound designer later took those recordings and developed them into the final audio used in the film.

Disclosure Day is scheduled to hit theatres on June 12.
