JoJo Siwa has revealed she has been forced to take an entire week away from rehearsals for her upcoming show after sustaining a painful injury in a golf cart accident.
The Dance Moms star, 23, took to TikTok to share the news with fans whilst wearing an eye patch over her right eye. She had previously been rushed to see medics with a suspected concussion after being flung from a golf cart during an anniversary trip with partner Chris Hughes.
TikTok update shows dancers carrying on without her
The TikTok video features a split screen showing Siwa resting at home alongside footage of her dance team continuing rehearsals for her upcoming cruise ship performances.
Dressed in a comfortable blue hoodie and lying down, Siwa appeared in good spirits despite the stark contrast with the high-energy rehearsal footage on the other side of the screen.
She wrote alongside the post: "I've had to take the week completely off, but my dancers have been absolutely crushing it!!"
Fans flooded the comments section with well wishes and words of encouragement.
"Jojo please wrap yourself in bubblewrap until that cruise. Hope you feel better soon," wrote one user.
"We love our Jojo," said a second, whilst a third added: "Aww you'll be back to it in no time. Look after yourself."
How the accident happened
Siwa provided a more detailed account of the incident on Instagram, describing the moments leading up to the crash and expressing relief at the outcome.
"Rough day today. I fell / got thrown off my golf cart as I was turning left to return a golf ball the tires and accelerator got stuck and it went full speed (25 mph) in a few circles before going onto 2 wheels and throwing me off…" she wrote.
"I fell back onto my lower back, instinctively tucked my neck as far as I could to try and protect my head, but still hit it pretty hard. I rolled over my back and the cart kept going, I'm VERY VERY lucky for how I walked away from this today. I am feeling okay, just sore."
Race to recover before cruise sets sail
The timing of the injury has left Siwa with a narrow window to recover. Siwa announced in December that she would be launching her own cruise holiday featuring dance parties, build-a-bow sessions, and a concert at sea.
The cruise is scheduled to set sail from 12 June to 15 June, leaving her fewer than two weeks to return to full rehearsals whilst still recovering from the incident.
