King Charles welcomed a group of young people to Buckingham Palace on Monday for a summit centred on the challenges confronting the next generation.

Also in attendance were King's Trust Goodwill Ambassador Sir Gareth Southgate and representatives from across the youth sector.

A statement released following the event noted that "the summit provided an opportunity for leaders across society to hear directly from young people about the positive difference access to support can have on those who are out of work, facing isolation, personal challenges or insecure employment."

Nationwide initiative on the horizon

The statement went on to confirm that "the King's Trust and Sir Gareth Southgate are set to launch a nationwide initiative, designed to give young people greater access to courses, coaches and resources to build confidence and skills for life."

Sir Gareth Southgate is a former professional footballer and England national team manager. He played as a defender and midfielder during his playing career before going on to manage the England side from 2016 to 2024.
