Millie Bobby Brown shares honest update on adoption and future children
The actress reflects on motherhood and describes adoption as a lifelong dream
Millie Bobby Brown has shared new insight into her family plans, revealing that she hopes to experience pregnancy in the future after fulfilling her “childhood dream” of adoption.
The Stranger Things star, 22, and her husband welcomed a baby girl in August 2025 through adoption, a milestone she described as deeply meaningful and something she had always envisioned for her life.
Speaking on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast, Brown explained that adoption had long been part of her personal vision of motherhood.
“Always, always wanted to adopt,” she said. “It was always part of my childhood dreams.”
She added that even as a child, she never imagined motherhood in only one way, saying she never played with dolls in a traditional sense and instead gravitated toward the idea of adoption from a young age.
However, Brown clarified that while adoption is central to her journey, she still hopes to expand her family further in the future through pregnancy.
“It’s not because I don’t want that. Hopefully one day that’s in my future,” she said.
Brown also reflected on her academic interests in social work and veterinary technician studies, saying her education helped shape her understanding of family, caregiving, and adoption. She described adoption as “love” and “forever,” adding that her studies gave her a deeper appreciation of both adoptive and birth parent experiences.
During the conversation, the actress also addressed the challenges of public scrutiny around motherhood, calling some online criticism “vicious” and overwhelming.
“I was like, ‘This is vicious. You are vicious,’” she said, noting that she has little patience for negative commentary directed at mothers.
Brown has previously spoken about the emotional intensity of becoming a parent, telling UNICEF that she was unprepared for the depth of love she feels for her daughter.
“I don’t understand how that much happens in my heart,” she said. “The feeling is so overwhelming. It’s just incomprehensible.”
