Convicted killer Mackenzie Shirilla wants Kim Kardashian to champion her legal fight
Shirilla is serving 15 years to life for the 2022 deaths of Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan
Convicted murderer Mackenzie Shirilla is reportedly hoping that Kim Kardashian will take up her legal cause, with insiders claiming the imprisoned woman believes the celebrity activist could help her fight her 15-years-to-life sentence for the 2022 deaths of Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan.
Shirilla eyes Kim Kardashian's support
Sources told Radar Online that Shirilla and her family are riding a wave of renewed public interest generated by Netflix documentary The Crash, which examines the fatal 2022 incident in which prosecutors argue Shirilla intentionally drove her vehicle into a brick wall, killing both passengers. Shirilla has consistently maintained she did not cause the crash deliberately.
"Mackenzie is totally buzzed that there's so much interest in her case. She and her parents are convinced they'll get through this and come out strong – not to mention rich and famous," a source said.
Jailhouse call and Kardashian hopes
The renewed spotlight has fuelled Shirilla's hope that Kardashian — who has previously used her platform to advocate for criminal justice reform — might intervene in her case. During a jailhouse call, Shirilla reportedly told her mother: "Maybe Kim Kardashian will reach out herself."
A source close to the situation said: "What Mackenzie wants more than anything is to get Kim Kardashian in her corner ... Even though a lot of folks are saying it's not the type of cause Kim wants to support."
Shirilla's own words on the crash
In The Crash, Shirilla addressed the incident directly, stating: "I have no recollection of that morning. I'm not saying I'm innocent. I was a driver of a tragedy, but I'm not a murderer." Insiders say Shirilla is "certain" that Kardashian can both save her and "make her a star."
