Prince William follows Meghan Markle's footsteps as magazine guest editor
William's Country Life edition follows Meghan's celebrated 'Forces for Change' Vogue issue
Prince William, Prince of Wales, is preparing to serve as guest editor of a November edition of Country Life magazine — a move that draws immediate comparisons to a similar editorial role taken on by Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, nearly six years ago.
The parallel has not gone unnoticed, with observers noting that William appears to be following a path first taken by his sister-in-law within the British media landscape.
Meghan's landmark Vogue guest editorship
In September 2019, Meghan took the helm of British Vogue as guest editor, working alongside Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful over a period of seven months to shape the magazine's most-read annual fashion issue. Rather than focusing on fashion alone, Meghan steered the edition towards values, causes, and individuals she felt were making a meaningful impact on the world.
Meghan reflected on the experience at the time, saying: "These last seven months have been a rewarding process, curating and collaborating with Edward Enninful, British Vogue's editor-in-chief, to take the year's most-read fashion issue and steer its focus to the values, causes and people making impact in the world today."
She added: "Through this lens I hope you'll feel the strength of the collective in the diverse selection of women chosen for the cover as well as the team of support I called upon within the issue to help bring this to light. I hope readers feel as inspired as I do, by the 'Forces for Change' they'll find within these pages."
William's Country Life edition
William's forthcoming guest editorship of Country Life marks his own entry into the world of magazine editing, with the November edition yet to be further detailed publicly. The nature of his editorial focus has not yet been disclosed.
