King Charles steps in to secure Harry and Meghan's upcoming UK trip

King Charles is providing specialised security for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, ahead of their upcoming return to the United Kingdom — a visit that will also bring their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to British soil for the first time in four years.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to travel to England in the coming weeks to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games.

Security arrangements confirmed

The King is understood to be playing an active role in facilitating the visit, including helping to ensure the safety of the couple's children during their stay. A Government spokesman addressed the protective security measures in place, stopping short of providing specifics.

"It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals' security," the spokesman said.

Background to the Sussex family's departure

Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020, relocating to California with their son Archie. The couple later made serious allegations against the Royal Family in a widely watched television interview, including claims of racism directed towards their son. Their daughter, Princess Lilibet, was born after the move to the United States.

The forthcoming trip represents one of the most significant Sussex family visits to the UK since their departure, and the first time both Archie and Lilibet are expected to appear together on British soil.
