Paige DeSorbo breaks silence on engagement speculation

Paige DeSorbo denied reports that she's engaged to boyfriend Joe D'Amelio, revealing that the viral speculation stemmed from a social media misunderstanding while she was celebrating her brother's real engagement.

The former Summer House star addressed the rumours on the July 17 episode of her Giggly Squad podcast, explaining that she was on holiday when social media mistakenly concluded D'Amelio had proposed.

"It was a transformational trip," DeSorbo said, adding that her brother got engaged during the family getaway. "By the time I saw the rumours that I got engaged, it was past the time that I could say something on Instagram."

Hannah Berner explains how the rumours started

Cohost Hannah Berner admitted she unintentionally fuelled the speculation after posting a screenshot from one of their FaceTime calls.

"I have to formally apologise because I always end up part of the drama and I don't even mean [to]," Berner said. She explained that she captured the image after DeSorbo burst into laughter during their conversation and "posted it so innocently."

DeSorbo joked that the post sparked engagement rumours while she was dealing with stomach issues on holiday.

"So, you started a rumor about me while I was, like, literally having IBS symptoms," she quipped. "Did I do something to you? ... My mom was getting text messages, she was like, 'Wait, what?'"

She also noted that her brother and future sister-in-law, who "doesn't have Instagram," were completely unaware of the online frenzy.

"They don't give a s* at all... They were like, 'What?' They are real people living in the real world," DeSorbo said.

Romance with Joe D'Amelio remains strong

Us Weekly confirmed in July 2025 that DeSorbo had begun dating sports marketing executive Joe D'Amelio following her split from Southern Charm star Craig Conover.

Earlier this year, DeSorbo confirmed the pair are exclusive, describing their relationship as "really fun" and "very relaxing." She also praised D'Amelio's personality, saying, "They know when to speak and when not to and I like that. It's important [for] a man to know when to shut it."

The reality star has also said she prefers keeping this relationship more private than her previous romance, explaining that she now enjoys deciding "what I share and what I don't" about her personal life.
