Earl Charles Spencer announced plans to host a formal celebration banquet at his historic Althorp House estate for the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club following their recent T20 Trophy victory. The announcement came shortly after his nephew, Prince Harry, conducted a secret family visit to his late mother Princess Diana's ancestral home.

The Daily Mail reported that Harry was spotted leaving the Northamptonshire estate, where his mother rests on a secluded island within the grounds. The Mail on Sunday claimed that Harry, his wife Meghan Markle, and their two young children, Archie and Lilibet, stayed at the property over the weekend. Harry had previously expressed a desire to bring his family to visit Diana's final resting place, marking the first time his young children have visited the site.

Days following the royal family's visit, Spencer took to social media platform X to share the news regarding his upcoming event for the sports team. Spencer explained that he and his partner Cat had previously hosted the local cricket team for an informal barbecue at the estate two months prior. During that initial gathering, he promised the players a proper banquet inside the main house if they secured the tournament title.

Sharing a photograph from the previous gathering on social media, Spencer congratulated the team on their evening victory and confirmed he would be delighted to make good on his promise very soon. Althorp House has remained the ancestral seat of the Spencer family for centuries, serving as both a historical landmark and the final resting place for Princess Diana.
