Prince George banned from smartphones at new boarding school

Prince George will not be allowed to keep a smartphone at his new boarding school, aligning with the strict digital restrictions enforced by his parents. The young royal, who turned 13 on Wednesday, faces firm rules away from home that prevent pupils from carrying advanced mobile devices.

The News reported that the Prince and Princess of Wales strongly support the mobile phone ban, having long maintained a strict no-phone rule within their own household. The policy at the boarding school ensures that pupils remain detached from personal smartphones while away from their family.

peaking on Eugene Levy's television series The Reluctant Traveller last year, Prince William revealed that none of his children owns mobile phones and noted that he and Catherine remain very strict about device usage. Royal expert Russell Myers shared that whilst William enjoyed a happy experience during his own school days, both parents recognise that school life for children presents vastly different challenges in today's modern world.

Addressing the issue during an earlier interview with Brazilian television host Luciano Huck, Prince William admitted that managing screen time remains genuinely difficult for parents. He noted that none of their children owns phones, though he suggested that George might eventually receive a device with strictly limited access once he transitions fully into secondary school.
