Megan Moroney reveals why she keeps her signature blonde hair
The singer also said her 'painfully honest' songwriting has helped build a close bond with fans
Country singer Megan Moroney has revealed why she enjoys embracing a more natural look, saying she appreciates fans who recognise her without makeup because it shows they know the real her.
The 28-year-old star admitted her style continues to evolve alongside her music, although she has no immediate plans to part with her signature blonde hair.
"I think depending on the music, my style will obviously change over time," Moroney told Cosmopolitan.
"I've jokingly thought about dyeing my hair brunette, but I'm gonna save that for later down the road. For whatever reason, the blonde seems to be working."
The singer also confessed that changing her appearance often helps lift her spirits, revealing she usually opts for a spray tan or a brighter shade of blonde whenever she's feeling down.
"Whenever I'm feeling sad, I either need a spray tan or I need to dye my hair blonder," she said, recalling that she first dyed her hair blonde at 16 after her first heartbreak.
Moroney added that she'd love to spend an era wearing less makeup and styling her natural hair, explaining that her fans are already familiar with her off-stage appearance through social media.
"I would love to have an era where I wear my hair natural and less makeup because off stage, this is what you're gonna see, and my fans know that," she said.
The country star said she especially enjoys meeting fans when she's makeup-free, joking that anyone who recognises her without the glam deserves a photo.
"I always say, too, if you can recognize me when I'm natural, you deserve a picture," Moroney explained.
"I'm never gonna be mad at you for asking me for a photo if you can recognize me without all the makeup and hair. You're a true fan."
Previously, Moroney also reflected on the deeply personal nature of her songwriting, saying honesty has been central to building a strong connection with her audience since the release of her 2023 debut album, Lucky.
Speaking to People, she described her music as "painfully honest" and said she hopes sharing her own experiences reassures young fans that difficult moments eventually pass.
