Rebecca Black opens up about her private love life

Rebecca Black has revealed she's enjoying a new relationship but prefers to keep most details of her romance private, saying she has become more protective of her personal life over the years.

The 29-year-old singer, who recently confirmed she has a new girlfriend, admitted she has intentionally stepped back from sharing intimate aspects of her life publicly, despite fans' curiosity.

Speaking to People, Black said she has seen both the positives and challenges of public relationships through friends in the entertainment industry.

"I have so many friends in wonderfully public relationships that do it so well and with so much thought," she said.

"I've also had so many friends be burned by doing that. I don't really have any rules for myself and neither has anybody I've ever dated, really, as an adult."

Instead, the singer prefers to express her emotions through her music rather than on social media.

"What I make and give to people is more about the art and fantasy I create and less about being tethered to my real life," she explained.

Although Black keeps much of her relationship out of the public eye, she admitted she enjoys seeing fans react to the little glimpses she does share.

Recalling a recent social media post, she laughed about a fan tweeting, "I hope Rebecca Black and her butch girlfriend are having a good day," adding that she immediately shared the message with her partner.

Black noted that while her girlfriend has appeared on her social media, she remains naturally private and largely absent from the internet.

"I've posted her. She's just a naturally extremely private person," she said. "She's hard to find online, which is even annoying to me. But I go with the wind. And I love that she's mysterious. It's so hot."
