Hannah Waddingham has opened up about her relationship with boyfriend Nick Beresford-Cleary, saying she is glad she waited for the right person instead of rushing into romance.

The 52-year-old actress praised the spine surgeon during an interview with Extra, joking that he has been worth the wait.

“I mean, he’s not so shabby,” Waddingham said. “I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for the right person. You don't have to rush. Eventually, they’ll be along.”

The Ted Lasso star also spoke about returning for the show's fourth season, revealing she had no hesitation about reprising her role as Rebecca Welton.

“I thought it was a great, great big yes-yes. I mean, I just thought it was a no-brainer,” she said.

Waddingham admitted she never truly felt ready to leave the award-winning comedy series, adding that the cast would always carry a part of AFC Richmond with them.

“I didn’t think any of us emotionally were really ever gonna go anywhere fully. There would always be a patch that was forever Richmond in us all,” she explained.

Elsewhere, the actress reflected on a conversation with former England goalkeeper Mary Earps, saying she was shocked by the criticism the football star received following the release of her autobiography.

Speaking to The Guardian, Waddingham said she found the abuse directed at Earps difficult to comprehend.

“My jaw was on the floor,” she said, adding that she was surprised by the level of negativity faced by high-profile female athletes.
