Craig Melvin back at Today following weeklong beach getaway with family
The 'Today' co-anchor enjoyed a beach getaway on Hilton Head Island before returning to the NBC studio in NYC
Craig Melvin has returned to the Today show after taking more than a week away from the morning program for a family vacation.
The 47-year-old co-anchor was back at the NBC studio in New York City on Thursday, July 30, following a pre-planned break spent with his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, and their two children.
Melvin enjoyed time away with his family on Hilton Head Island, where they relaxed during a beach getaway.
Czarniak shared a family photo on Instagram on July 26 featuring their children, Delano, 12, and Sybil, 9.
Before returning to work, Melvin shared a glimpse of the vacation on social media, writing that he was “soaking in every moment before we have to leave this place.”
Melvin had announced his time off during the 3rd Hour of Today on July 15, with Al Roker revealing that former U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team player and MLS analyst Taylor Twellman would fill in during his absence.
The journalist’s return comes after a security incident at the Today show’s New York City studio earlier this month.
A man was arrested on July 16 after allegedly entering the building and confronting staff members.
According to authorities, Andrew Truelove, 41, was charged with burglary and menacing as hate crimes following the incident.
NBC News confirmed that no one was injured and said the network was working with law enforcement while reviewing security measures.
Melvin previously addressed the incident on air, expressing relief that everyone at the studio was safe.
The show has since implemented additional security measures to help protect employees, guests and visitors.
