Timothy Olyphant surprises hosts by admitting he has no computer at home
The Justified star said he relies almost entirely on his smartphone, insisting, 'That’s all you gotta do'
Timothy Olyphant has surprised fans by revealing that he doesn’t own a computer, admitting he had to borrow one just to record a recent podcast appearance.
The 58-year-old actor made the revelation while appearing on the SmartLess podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett.
“I needed a computer,” Olyphant joked. “I guess you can’t do your show if you don’t own a computer.”
His confession left the hosts stunned, with Arnett calling the admission “f****** rad.”
Explaining his minimalist approach to technology, Olyphant said he gets by with just a smartphone.
“I got a phone and I got a thing. That’s all you gotta do,” he said.
Bateman found the claim hard to believe, asking whether the Justified star at least owned an iPad for creative work. Olyphant responded by revealing that he and his wife, Alexis Knief, initially tried using an old desktop computer stored at home.
However, the outdated device proved unusable for the recording.
“We plugged it in and started it up,” Olyphant recalled. “They were all USB things and I was like, ‘I don’t think I can — it won’t work.’”
The actor eventually borrowed a computer from an office to join the interview.
“There’s a lot of sacrifices that went into this, guys,” he joked. “And don’t get me wrong, I’m super honoured, and it is a pleasure to be here.”
The conversation took another humorous turn when the hosts asked how Olyphant kept up with podcasts without relying on technology.
“I read the transcripts,” he quipped. “The show’s very good. The chemistry comes across in written print.”
Bateman also questioned whether Olyphant had ever been tempted to explore artificial intelligence or spend more time online. The actor insisted he can access everything he needs from his phone.
“You can do all that on the little phones!” he replied.
