'Sixteen Candles' actress Carlin Glynn is no more

Carlin Glynn, who is best known for her role as Brenda Baker in the 1984 hit Sixteen Candles, passed away on July 13, 2023, at the age of 83.

The Tony award winner actress died after battling dementia and cancer, her daughter Mary Stuart Masterson confirmed the news in a heartfelt Instagram post.

While sharing a series of pictures of her mother, Masterson wrote: "I will always be grateful for those last moments, no matter how hard. Death is like birth in the oddest way. From my first breath to her last. This thread is as fragile as it is strong.” 

“She was the most graceful clumsy person you would ever meet,” Masterson wrote in a heartfelt post. Strong, smart, silly, intuitive, kind, generous, passionate and a deep listener,” she continued.

“She was devoted to my father and to the enormous circle of students and collaborators who were considered her chosen family,”  Glynn's daughter concluded.


For those unversed, Carlin Glynn made her acting debut with the film Three Days of the Condor in 1975 opposite Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway.
