Brenda Lee’s famous song Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree has topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart after 65 years of its release.

As reported by Variety, the song spent the last several years landing the number 2 spot on the charts every December, after spending most of its lifetime not annually charting at all.

In an interview to the outlet, the I’m Sorry singer revealed that she was so excited that if she could “jump out” of her clothes, she would.

For years, the song had remained in competition with Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas to top the charts and after achieving the milestone the singer deemed it as a “magical thing” for her, making her the oldest artist to get there.

“It’s been a serious roadblock. But you know what, if something’s gonna be in front of you, you want it to be good. And it was,” the 78-year-old singer said expressing how charting number 1 was a far fetched idea.

The song was released on November 24, 1958 and sold 25 million copies worldwide by its 50th anniversary in 2008.

The song’s recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2019.

As of now, the American singer took to her Instagram account to post a video of her  reaction when she found out her Christmas song had landed the number one spot in 2023.
