Bryan Adams is all-praises for Princess Diana while reflecting back on the time he first met her, in an exclusive interview on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

In a conversation with The Sunday Times, he discussed the beginning of his really close friendship to the princess calling her "an amazing woman and a super-great inspiration."

“We had a lot of really, really good conversations, I have to tell you. In fact it’s strange and surreal to think about,” he said, recalling his bond with the now deceased princess.

The Canadian musician further noted, “I really, really liked Diana. Meeting her was truly one of the greatest things that ever happened to me.”

The Please Forgive Me singer and Princess Diana met on an airplane shortly after he co-wrote the song, Diana.

 Many people believed that the song was inspired by the princess’ marriage to Prince Charles in 1981.

“I said, ‘I used your name on a song once,’ and Diana said, ‘Yes, I know, very funny. Actually I’d like to hear it again,’” he said, stating the conversation he had with the princess.

“So I sent a copy to Kensington Palace, got an invitation to tea back and that’s how we became friends,” he continued.

He revealed that the friendship was neither rushed nor forced, explaining how they slowly got friendly, later learning “what was really going on,” hinting at the royal family.

When he was asked if he had tried to save Princess Diana from her fate, he responded, “Maybe, a bit.”

Bryan Adams and Princess Diana were also rumored to have been romantically involved previously, but Adams denied the rumors in 2018 on an episode of Watch What Happens Live saying that he and Diana were just “great friends.”

About  Princess Diana's  death:

Princess Diana died in a car crash on August 31, 1997 in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris while her driver was fleeing from the paparazzi.

Her televised funeral, on September 6 was viewed by a total 32.1 million people, making it one of United Kingdom’s highest viewing figures.
