Elon Musk's Grok sparks online frenzy with unexpected Hindi slang response
Elon Musk's AI startup, xAI, has found itself at the centre of an online storm after its chatbot, Grok, unexpectedly responded to a user's post with Hindi slang.
Although the interaction began as a simple query about mutual friends it took a surprising turn when Grok replied with a casual response and the same Hindi slang used by the user.
The exchange started when an X (formerly Twitter) user named Toka asked Grok, "Who are my 10 best mutuals?" When they didn't receive a response, they posted again, adding a Hindi sentence.
Surprisingly, Grok fired back using the same word and followed up with a response that left users stunned.
As a result, the comments section was soon filled with memes by X users. The exchange also sparked a larger discussion about artificial intelligence (AI) behaviour, with some users expressing astonishment at Grok's responses.
On the contrary, Grok's competitors, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek, typically return mechanical answers.
However, Grok's ability to understand and respond to Indian users' queries in a tailored manner has set it apart.
The AI chatbot's ability to respond in a more unfiltered manner has raised eyebrows, with some users praising its unique perspectives and others expressing concern about its potential impact.
For the unversed, developed by xAI in November 2023, Grok is designed to assist with various tasks and offer unique perspectives.
