Bryan Adams dishes on buying his 'first' musical instrument
Bryan Adam got sudden fame after his song 'Summer of '69'

Bryan Adams shared how he reunited with his first guitar after being apart from it.
It is pertinent to mention that Adams has mentioned about his first guitar in the lyrics of his mega hit song, Summer of ’69.
During his appearance on the I Never Thought It Would Happen podcast, the singer shared the background of purchasing his first guitar.
The 65-year-old performer mentioned that he got it at the age of twelve during a visit to his uncle in Reading, UK.
He said, "[I] told him that I wanted to buy an electric guitar, and he took me down to the music shop in Reading and I still have that electric guitar."
"It’s an Italian thing… It’s an imitation Stratocaster," Adams added.
The Heaven crooner also stated that he was separated from his guitar for a long period of time as his father worked for the Canadian Embassy which obliged them to move around often.
There came a point in Adam’s life when he started living in Israel which made him lend the musical instrument to his neighbour.
"I was like, ‘Ugh, why did I do that? ‘But anyway, I got a random email from somebody saying, ‘Hey I have your guitar from 1970. Do you want it back?’ And I was like, ‘Whoa. Yeah, of course I want it back. Thank you,’" he recalled.
The Please Forgive Me singer never got in touch with him and was convinced that his guitar had been lost.
Fast forward to 10 years or so, Adams was at a club in Berlin when a man came up to him claiming that he had the instrument.
"I said, ‘What?’ He goes, ‘I have the guitar from your childhood. Give me your address and I’ll send it to you.’ I said, ‘Wait a minute, are you the guy who wrote to me back in ‘94?’ And he said ‘No, I’m his friend. He died in a plane crash and left it to me, and he told me he was going to give it to you and so it came back to me,’” he said. “It’s the stupidest story, but it’s what happened. And so I got it back. I tried playing it a few times, but I think it’s been modified in the neck… I haven’t bothered to set it up again, it’s just there. Just a piece of history."
To note, Bryan spoke to The Early Show in 2008 explaining the real meaning of his hit track, Summer of ’69.
He said, "A lot of people think it’s about the year."
"But actually, it’s more about making love in the summertime. It’s using ‘69 as a sexual reference," Bryan Adam elaborated.
