Ben Affleck's ‘Accountant 2’: Here’s why Anna Kendrick did not appear in sequel

Anna Kendrick, who was part of 2016's The Accountant, was reportedly “intentionally” kept out from Ben Affleck starrer Accountant 2, which was released on April 25.

Gavin O'Connor, the director of the latest action flick told  in an interview with The Direct that the Another Simple Favor actress, who played the role of Affleck’s love interest Dana Cummings, did not appear in the sequel due to the storyline’s demand.

According to O'Connor, he along with the screenwriter of the film planned to focus on relation of Christian, played by Affleck with his estranged brother Brax, played Jon Bernthal in the sequel.

However, the director also dished out that Kendrick could possibly return for a threequel, saying, “Don't be surprised if Dana, [Kendrick] shows up in the third film.”

The Accountant 2 has been released nine years after the original film, where Affleck’s character takes on the task with the help of his estranged brother to uncover the truth, investigating a deadly scheme involving corruption and human trafficking.

Besides Affleck, The Accountant 2 sees Jon Bernthal, JK Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson reprising their roles.
