The reality TV star made latest revelation about her ethnic identity on social media
Kim Kardashian belongs to a well-known and successful American reality TV empire, however, she recently left her followers scratching their heads about her ethnic identification.
The Kardashian family mogul shared an Instagram story from her latest trip to a head spa, presumably for a dermatological session.
A computer screen captured on the story showcased the words “Kim Kardashian / Female / 44 / Asian”.
This detail was immediately picked up by eagle-eyed followers, as the 44-year-old socialite has never publicly identified herself as Asian before.
The new development sparked avid discussions on popular online forum Reddit.
A user on the platform uploaded a screenshot from Keeping Up With the Kardashians star’s story and kickstarted a debate.
“Didn’t know Kim identifies herself as Asian,” the accompanying caption said.
The user also added, “Before y'all come for me, I know she’s half Armenian and Armenia is in Asia. Never thought of her identifying as Asian so was a bit surprised.” (Sic)
Kim is the daughter of American media personality Kris Jenner and Armenian-American attorney Robert Kardashian.
Therefore, other users quickly assembled to point out that her identification as Asian may be in part to her father’s ethnic background.
“Her father wasn’t white (obv), she was close to him, and she did grow up somewhat connected to her Armenian identity. I definitely find it surprising too, but it makes sense,” one person wrote.
While another aimed to provide better context, specifically regarding the spa appointment, and revealed, “Looked into it; I guess it’s a hair type used in hair treatment; cause looking at the story it’s like they are doing treatments on her so I guess her hair falls into the Asian category.” (Sic)
Calling the new information “cool”, a different user explained, “For anyone confused, Armenians are ‘West Asians’ or EurAsians.”
Though Kim Kardashian was born and grew up in Los Angeles, she has paid visits to her father’s ancestral land Armenia, on two publicly known occasions, during 2015 and 2019.
