The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will support a USB mouse, as demonstrated in a recent developer video from Koei Tecmo.

During a gameplay showcase of Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition, producer Michi Ryu paused the game to plug in a USB mouse.

The console immediately displayed a message confirming the mouse connection, and Ryu continued playing using both the mouse and his left Joy-Con 2, switching between the two effortlessly.

This demonstration has suggested the system will offer more flexible control options, which could be a welcome change for players who find traditional Joy-Con controls uncomfortable, especially when used in "mouse mode," a new feature where the Joy-Con 2 is turned on its edge to act like a pointing device.

While the original Nintendo Switch technically supported mouse and keyboard input, only a few titles used it, such as Nightdive Studios' port of Turok, which included a hidden mouse option in the settings menu.

Moreover, a recent video posted to the Nintendo Today app shows that when a Joy-Con 2 is used in mouse mode, an onscreen pointer appears, allowing players to navigate the system interface like they would on a computer.

This enhanced support opens the door for more PC-like experiences on the console, especially for strategy or simulation games that benefit from precise pointer controls.
